History of the Acadians

Title

History of the Acadians

Description

Translation of the first volume of Arsenault's original historical collection, "Histoire et généalogie des Acadiens." This volume, "Histoire des Acadiens," attempts a comprehensive history of the Acadian people - their arrival in sixteenth-century North America, the developments of their communities in modern day Nova Scotia, and their historical persistence through expulsion and dispersion. This volume sets the context for the more intimately local and pointedly genealogical approaches to the subject of the Acadians undertaken in the subsequent volumes of Arsenault's collection.
